Was working on the Slayer today so I can go race it tomorrow. Here’s pictures.

The rear bumper from my first nitro RC, an old T Maxx.

Today’s objective was to replace a shattered rear half shaft, of which I took no pictures for some reason, and to replace the center differential with a main shaft that has no diff because with the diff, the truck is basically FWD. Not cool.

Here’s the subject. A normal Traxxas Revo 2 speed with hop ups like steel gears, a better slipper clutch, a vented steel brake rotor and rear brakes to go along with that center diff. You need them for a center diff other wise you just have front brakes.

Here’s the T case from below with itS aluminum skid plate. You can also see the brake rotor and steering servo among other things.

You can see the brakes and the center shafts clearly once the skid plate is off.

Liberated!

Here’s a close up of the rear brakes and the spur gear. The rear brakes are about as simple as they get. Two fibre disks stuck between three sheet metal brake pads. When the servo pulls on the black rod just above the rotors it squeezes them together. There ya go. Same on the front, except it’s fibre pads and a three piece vented steel rotor.

Here’s what it looks like once the six screws holding the front of the case on. The output shaft is on the bottom with the diff, above that are the gears that make it a 2 speed automatic transmission. All that shifts the gears is a centrifugal clutch that pops out at a certain RPM to catch the next gear. You can adjust that by tightening a screw to apply or remove spring pressure to make the gear engage later or sooner respectively. The third is just a simple cluster gear on the input shaft.

Old center diff on the right, new beefier output shaft and diff delete on the left. (It’s actually from a kit that’s designed to remove reverse from Revos but I had lost the original parts.)

Here’s the transmission and all the parts I removed. No more rear brakes because I don’t need em and they never really.worked all that well anyways.

I want to upgrade from gran turismo 1 to something newer but I also want a scale trail truck like the Trail Finder 2

I’m an Xbox fan boy, but that being said, either last Gen console, PS3 or 360 and get the racing game to go with it. What ever Gran Turismo game was the newest one for the PS3, and forza 4 for the 360.

As for the RC Stuff, Axial makes some really cool shit if you’re into the trail rigs, but 8f you want something to do high speed bashing or racing, get yourself a used Traxxas Slash 4x4. If you like road racing with scale looking cars, look into Tamiya 1/10 touring cars and sedans.

If you could dream build a RC Truck/car what would it be?

I’d build a 1/4 scale tube chassis car powered by a Conley Stinger 609 engine which is an actual 1/4 scale supercharged V8. The blower makes boost and the dry sump oil system actually works. Then I’d probably ly put a Capri body on top and make it look like a rally car.
